Fashion Shot

My fashion shot displays Ray Ban Sunglasses. The subjects are Josh Kuhl and Lucas Gollon. I used a paint brush in Photoshop to convert the photo to black and white. I left Josh's sunglasses in color for focal purposes. At the bottom of the photo, I typed out Ray Ban to show the specific product I was depicting. I wanted the photo to be friendly, therefore I had Lucas and Josh wave to the camera. I used a shutter speed of 1/100, an aperture setting of F3.2, and an ISO setting of 160.

Portrait Shot

The subject of my portrait shot is Leanne Hahn. I took the photo at Washington Park around sunset. I chose this photo for my portrait shot because of the shadows that came off of Leanne. I chose this particular area because of the compass beneath the subject. When I edited the photo in Photoshop, I adjusted the levels and color variations to hide Leanne's face. I wanted to hide Leanne's facial features so the photo would be more mysterious and artsy. I used an ISO of 80, a shutter speed 1/1000, and an aperture setting of F2.8.

Final Exam

My final depicts the progression of the camera. I wanted to display the contrasts of the cameras. On the right side of the photo, I placed the old film cameras and a Nikon 35mm camera. In front of the elevated cameras, I placed a slightly old camera. On the elevated piece, I placed a Sony digital camera. When I edited the photo in Photoshop, I adjusted the levels and color variations. As well as the colors, I brought out the Sony camera to make it more focal in the photo. I used side lighting and high side lighting. The ISO was at 1600, and the shutter speed was at 1/12. The aperture was at a setting of F2.7. Because I took this photo in the studio, I was able to use professional lighting and placement.

Artistic Creation

My third artistic creation is of my brother Josh. The photo was taken at the Hilton in Springfield, Illinois. I used a macro setting in order to capture the lamp in focus. I wanted Josh to be out of focus, yet focal. I used an aperture setting of F2.8, and a shutter speed of 1/80. The lighting was not that strong, therefore I adjusted the levels in Photoshop. I used an ISO of 400.

Product Shot

My product shot is of a Sony Cybershot digital camera. I wanted to capture an angle that would evoke a consumer. The angle I chose was appropriate because some technical aspects of the camera were displayed in the photo. I took the photo in the studio with high-side lighting. The ISO was at 800. The aperture was at a setting of F5.0. The shutter speed was at a setting of 1/40.

Food Shot

I used oranges for the subject of my food photo. I used an ISO of 1600, because the lighting in the house was darker. I also brightened up the photo by adjusting the mid-tones and using the dodge tool to brighten up the background. To get a clear shot, I used the macro function. The aperture was at a setting of F2.8, and the shutter speed was at a setting of 1/125. I enjoy this photo because it is a different perspective of the oranges.

Animal Shot

The subjects of this photo are mallard ducks. I wanted to catch a shot of the ducks entering the water. The ISO was at 100, but the lighting was originally too dark. I edited the levels and brought out the ducks because they blended in with the background. I used an aperture setting of F3.2, and a shutter speed of 1/10. I enjoy this picture because I captured two ducks surrounded by plant life.

Animal Shot

The subjects of this photo are white geese. They are located in the pond at Washington Park. I wanted to capture the geese in their habitat. When I captured this photo, the goose in the back had dipped its head in the water. This created a wave effect in the water. I adjusted the mid-tones and levels. The ISO was at 100, and the aperture was at a setting of F2.8. The shutter speed was at 1/10. When I edited the photo, I cropped out the irrelevant pieces of the photo.

Insect Shot

The subject of my photo is a black ant. The ant was crawling on the side of the school. I used the macro function to capture the ant in clear and focal display. I used a shutter speed of 1/160 to capture the ant's movement. I used an aperture setting of F4.5, and an ISO of 100. The sun provided a sufficient amount of light for the photo. The intention of this photo was to portray an ant in its natural state.

Artistic Creation

My second Artistic Creation is of an older piano. The piano is traditionally intriguing. I like the subject because it seems to display a more conservative time period. I wanted to capture the keys in a close and clear vicinity. To capture this, I used the macro setting. I adjusted the mid-tones to make the photo look more "vintage." The aperture was at a setting of F2.8, and a shutter speed of 1/20.

Landscape Shot

This particular shot is a landscape of Centennial Hill. The hill is located at Centennial Park, in Springfield, Illinois. I chose this view to capture the entire hill and a small portion of the tree. The ISO was at 100. In order to make the photo more vintage, I adjusted the levels and color variations to a warmer mid tone. The shutter speed was at 1/400. I used an aperture setting of F8.0. I enjoy this photo because it represents Springfield. I believe the warmer mid tone makes the photo more evoking.

Architecture Shot

My architecture photo is of an abandoned and burned down house. The house is located in Ashland, Illinois. I felt that the home created a rustic and traditional vibe. I enjoy the photo because it displays a traditional view of Ashland. I used an aperture setting of F6.3, with a shutter speed of 1/1600. The ISO was at 400 for this photo.

Artistic Creation

My first artistic shot is of the angel statue in front of the bell tower in Washington Park. The photo was taken around sunset so the lighting was originally darker. I adjusted the colors and levels to bring out the statue a little more. I used an aperture setting of F2.8 with a shutter speed of 1/160. I enjoy this photo because I believe that it displays a melancholy vibe. I wanted to capture the bell tower without making it the emphasis of the photo.

Flower Shot

This is my second flower shot. I captured this shot at Washington Park in Springfield, Illinois. The flower was located near the path. I believe it conveys nature and the incorporation of other various flowers adds more color to the photo. I adjusted the mid-tones of the photo to bring out the highlights. A macro setting was also used in this photo. The aperture setting was at F2.8 with a shutter speed of 1/160. I left the ISO at 100 because of the natural lighting outside.

Candid Shot

My candid shot is of my friend Abby. She stood by the dock at Washington Park, which is located in Springfield, Illinois. I wanted to capture the glossy water and the white ducks that were swimming. The photo was taken at sunset, which adds a warm tone to the shot. The light is natural, but I adjusted the mid-tones of the photo to bring out the sun. The ISO was at 100 because I was outside in the sun. I used an aperture setting of F2.8 and a shutter speed of 1/10 in order to capture this shot.

Flower Shot

My flower shot is of a Prunus Accolade (Flowering Cherry). On this particular shot, I used a macro setting in order to obtain a clear and focal display. I used natural lighting for the original shot. When I edited the photo in Photoshop, I adjusted the levels to bring out the natural pigments of the Accolade. The aperture of the photo was at F2.8, with a shutter speed of 1/400. In order to further brighten the photo, I used an ISO of 100. For this particular photo, I wanted to portray nature and its beauty. I believe that the photo is successful in conveying a complex, yet simple flower's beauty.
